Huckleberries Take Two
About a week after our failed huckleberry picking attempt, we decided to give it another shot. A family in our ward kindly shared their huckleberry picking location with us. They were even kind enough to drive us to the spot and show us exactly what huckleberry plants looked like. Armed with knowledge we were finally able to do some decent huckleberry picking. Because it was late in the season we had to hike quite a ways up the hillside to find some decent patches. I am glad Tobey was there because it turns out he has a knack for finding huckleberry plants.
For those of you who have never been huckleberry picking, it isn't as easy as it sounds. First of all, the berries are tiny - then on top of that they grow right beneath the leaves of the plant so unless you are searching for them you probably won't find any. We searched until we found a good spot and settled down to pick. The girls loved it. They jumped right in and started picking the berries. Kennedy had a good time until she saw a tiny little spider, then she was done. That girl HATES bugs! Paige and Avery were undeterred however and picked berries nonstop. Next year will probably be a little more fun because Hadley will be able to walk around by herself. This year she just sat on a blanket - (until she faceplanted and rolled down a hill landing with her face in a pile of sicks and leaves) - then she wanted to be held. It was not the easiest thing in the world trying to hold her and pick huckleberries. She kept trying to pull the leaves off the plants and that would send all the huckleberries catapulting! We lost quite a few good huckleberries that way.
We picked until it was almost bedtime and then decided to head home. It was hard to leave behind plants full of berries though. Next year we will definitely be huckleberry picking again. And hopefully we will have more time so we will come home with a HUGE bucket full of berries. :)

How do you make your cute post scrapbook page looking things? Do you use a website to arrange the photos and stories, or do you use photo shop? I'm asking because I recently bought photo shop and hate it because I don't know how to do anything yet.
Another fun memory.
